Stage your event on the same spot where some of history’s most famous performers have dazzled audiences.  Standing on Edinburgh’s longest continuous theatre site, the Festival Theatre boasts the largest stage in Scotland which is easily transformed into the ultimate platform for banquets, exhibitions and large-scale functions, whilst the magnificent 1900-seat auditorium offers a luxurious and prestigious setting for conferences, award ceremonies and speaker events.

The spacious glass-fronted foyers showcase impressive views over the city to Arthur’s Seat and provide guests with relaxed and inspiring networking spaces, with adjacent multi-functional breakout rooms which are ideal for more intimate workshops and meetings. The flexible foyer spaces can be used in any number of combinations to cater to all scales and types of events.

In a convenient city-centre location with excellent transport links, The Studio offers a high quality professional performing arts space and benefits from natural light, high ceilings, changing facilities and optional bleacher seating for 160 people. We offer a range of additional support services from the Festival Theatre including technical support, ushering staff and box office.

The Studio offers a wide range of uses, from seminars, product launches or workshops to small-scale theatre shows and rehearsal space. We can offer the following:

• 24 x 12m space which can be separated into two 12 x 12m areas
• Retractable bleacher seating for up to 160 (including 2 wheelchair spaces)

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh which dates back to 1832, has an impressive portfolio of meeting rooms, conference facilities, banqueting rooms, a surgical skills laboratory, and its own 4 star Hotel – Ten Hill Place - currently undergoing a major expansion from 77 to 129 rooms . The world-famous Surgeons’ Hall Museums is available for private tours, making your event truly memorable.

Working together, these iconic venues deliver a range of spaces offering one of the largest conference destinations in the city, whilst individually they offer their own unique facilities to the discerning event organiser.

Any filming and photography you wish to host at Capital Theatres for commercial purposes must be arranged in advance with our Customer Services team.

Please submit your enquiry using the Filming/photographing application form, and ensure that you include the following information:

• Size of crew
• Date of shoot
• Timings of shoot (please include set up and get out timings)
• Location of where you would like to shoot
• Photographs of specific locations you are interested in if you have them available

Please note that before filming or conducting your photoshoot the following information must be supplied:

• Copy of your public liability insurance
• Your site-specific risk assessment
• Signed contract with Capital Theatres

Location fee and staffing costs must be paid in full before the shoot date.

Student Photography

We are happy to accommodate where we can requests from students wishing to arrange photography / filming at our theatres.

To request access, please contact Customer Services foh@capitaltheatres.com.

Please go to the Box Office on arrival and fill in a Non-Commercial Photography Agreement before you start your shoot.

For both Commercial and Student requests, we regret that we cannot accommodate all requests and we must have at least five days’ notice prior to the shoot date.
