ARRIVING AT THE KING'S THEATRE
If you are arriving by car, please note that Leven Street and Home Street are Greenways and are controlled by police. There is limited single yellow line parking in Tarvit Street approximately 30 metres away.
Access from the road to the front of the theatre is up three steps. Wheelchair access is available through the Box Office entrance at the right hand side of the building.
Please note that there is not a lift to all levels at the King's Theatre. There is a wheelchair platform lift on the right hand side of the main foyer for access to the Stalls, where the wheelchair spaces are located.
AT THE BOX OFFICE
The Box Office is situated on the right hand side of the foyer in the King's, accessed via Leven Street. Tickets can also be booked by calling 0131 529 6000, online or by using Text relay on 18002 0131 529 6003. If you have any specific seating requirements please let the box office know when you book your tickets.
There are six spaces in the stalls for wheelchair users, with adjacent seats for companions.
Please let us know all of your requirements at the time of booking. To book a wheelchair space, please call the Box Office on 0131 529 6000; this will help us to prepare for your visit.
For extra assistance we offer the use of the theatre wheelchair. To pre-book a theatre wheelchair, please call 0131 622 8109.
There are two accessible toilets at the King's theatre, one on the stalls level and one in the box office.
The King's has Bars on all levels but they are only accessible by stairs. However, our theatre staff will be pleased to bring refreshments to those who require assistance. If you need assistance in getting refreshments, please speak to a member of Front of House staff before the performance starts.
ASSISTANCE WITH HEARING
The King's has a Sennheiser infrared system covering all areas of the auditorium. Headsets can be collected from the programme box in the foyer of the King's Theatre.
A Sennheiser personal loop system is available for hearing aid users. Personal loops should be collected from the programme box in the foyer of the King's Theatre. Please note that at some performances, audio equipment, headsets and adapters are in high demand but we will do all we can to accommodate your needs.
Assistance Dogs are welcome and we will be pleased to look after them during the performance if required. Water bowls are available.
Capital Theatres strives to make all performances as fully accessible as possible. In order to achieve these aims, we offer Audio Described performances, Touch Tours, Captioned performances and British Sign Language interpretation.
For patrons who are blind or visually impaired, we offer an Audio Description service. Look out for the Audio Description logo in our main brochure or on our website denoting shows which have this service.
Audio Description consists of a simultaneous commentary of the visual elements of a performance which is broadcast though a personal headset. The describer will let you know things like where the characters are on stage, what they’re wearing, how they gesture and what the set looks like.
An introduction to the performance will describe the set, including lighting as appropriate and actors’ names and appearance, with costume details. Patrons should be seated 15 minutes before curtain up if they wish to hear the introduction. During the play itself, the describer will indicate what is happening on the stage without intruding on the actors’ dialogue.
Prior to each Audio Described performance we will provide a Touch Tour of the set, costumes and props. Your describer will give you a full account of the items that you’re introduced to, and how they will feature in the performance. Touch Tours usually commence 1 hour prior to the show starting, in the theatre’s entrance foyer. Please book your place on the Touch Tour when booking your ticket for the performance as tickets are limited. Touch Tours are exclusively for those using the Audio Description service and their companions.
BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETED
For patrons who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing we provide BSL Interpreted performances. Look out for the BSL logo in our main brochure or on our website denoting shows which have this service.
A BSL Interpreter will stand to one side of the stage and interpret all spoken or sung speech during the performance. Please mention that you wish to use this service when you book your show tickets and we will allocate you appropriate seats to clearly see the interpreter.
We can reserve multiple seats until signer location is known.
For patrons who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing we provide a Captioning Service. Look out for the Captioning logo in our main brochure or on our website denoting shows which have this service.
Captioning is a bit like subtitles on TV. The captions are shown on a raised display unit in large print on either side of the stage and delivered at the same time as the words spoken or sung by the actors. This is also a wonderful service for anyone who has difficulty in following strong accents, or whose first language is not English. Please mention that you wish to use this service when booking.

AFTER THE SHOW
Our Front of House staff will be happy to order a taxi after the performance for those with mobility issues.
Artlink (Edinburgh and the Lothians) provide a volunteer companion service for people who have difficulty in attending performances. For details please telephone 0131 229 3555 (Mon - Fri).
