Celebrating Edinburgh's Theatre Chaplain, David Todd

Our wonderful Theatre Chaplain, Reverend David Todd, received the British Empire Medal on 13 December for his incredible contributions to cultural and community life over the past four decades.

Since 2015, Reverend David Todd has served as Edinburgh’s first Theatre Chaplain, providing pastoral support to performers and staff at the Festival Theatre, the Edinburgh Playhouse and the Lyceum.

His extraordinary career has included roles as the first Theatre Manager of the Festival Theatre, Founding Trustee and Chairman at Live Music Now and Concerts Manager at the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

His passion for ensuring accessibility to the arts for all — whether through organising performances for the elderly, facilitating opportunities for young talent, or engaging refugee communities —highlight his deep commitment to inclusivity and community enrichment.

We are all thrilled to celebrate David’s fantastic achievements over the years!
