Edinburgh International Festival returns to Festival Theatre this August with three blockbuster theatre and dance shows.
Opening the Festival, National Theatre of Scotland and Dundee Rep present an epic new take on the 2008 financial crisis: Make it Happen (30 July - 9 August). This world premiere stars Brian Cox and Sandy Grierson and is written by one of the UK’s most in-demand playwrights, James Graham.
Then, another world premiere comes to our stage with Mary, Queen of Scots (15–17 August). Scottish Ballet reimagine the iconic story of one of Scotland’s most famous women, with set and costumes taking inspiration from haute couture and punk.
Finally, the Festival closes with the Scottish premiere of Figures in Extinction (22–24 August) from dance and theatre legends Crystal Pite and Simon McBurney. Performed by the internationally acclaimed Nederlands Dans Theater, this performance confronts the climate crisis through spellbinding movement and sound.
