King's Update: A Transformative Year

As we wrap up another year of progress, we wanted to take a moment to share the latest updates on the extensive renovation of the King’s Theatre. It has been an eventful and transformative journey so far, and we are so grateful for the incredible support we’ve received from the community along the way.

New air handling units will soon be installed on the roof of the King’s

This year has been all about laying the groundwork for the theatre’s bright future. In the past few months, significant progress has been made throughout the building, including on the roof. The old air handling unit has been successfully removed from the roof by crane, to be replaced by an updated ventilation system. The new unit will significantly improve air conditioning and distribution of fresh air throughout the building, ensuring a more comfortable environment for artists and audience alike.

The site for our brand-new street level café area is starting to take shape. The existing floor and side wall have been removed, ready for construction of the extension into the Stage Door Lane due to begin in the New Year.

We have reached an important milestone in the development of the Pit Bar, with the construction of the retaining wall complete and a new ceiling in place. The newly poured ceiling also serves as the flooring for the stalls above. This area is really beginning to take shape, offering an exciting glimpse of how the finished space will look and feel.

Work is well underway on one of the most striking new additions to the King’s – the feature window which runs the full height of the building on the Tarvit Street side.

As we close the chapter on this year, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported this project so far. Look out for further updates throughout 2025!
