We’re proud to celebrate LGBTQ History Month with the digital release of QOTA - our partnership with LGBT Youth Scotland. This partnership kicked off in 2018 with a national call out, bringing together young LGBTQ activists from across Scotland to devise an original filmed response to the GRA reform. That first piece was co-created with our team in The Studio and premiered at IGYO’s international conference later that year.

In 2019, LGBT Youth Scotland developed the partnership further, asking us to bring the group together to create their first live performance piece as a central event to the Scottish Parliament’s LGBT History Month Reception. The piece was performed in front of over 300 invited guests and MSPs on the 4th of February 2020, with plans in place to bring it onto the Festival Theatre stage later that year as part of our ‘Invade the Stage’ performance. You can read all about the original performance here.

Due to the ongoing restrictions, that show was inevitably cancelled. However, that did not stop us entirely! We have continued to engage, co-create, chat and make with this wonderful group twice a month on zoom. With a focus on building confidence, skills sharing, mental health, development of their artistic voice and sometimes a good old fashioned zoom quiz.

Collectively, QOTA decided that it was time to share the work we had created to a wider audience as originally indented. So for the past few months we have had a go at translating that work digitally.

This film below is the digital expression of our live performance in Scottish Parliament last year. We are beyond proud to share it here. Watch this space for what comes next...
