The Captions Speak Louder exhibition has been touring venues across the UK since November 2021, it can be found on the first-floor bar of the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh 5 to 30 October 2022
Stagetext presents Captions Speak Louder, the UK’s first exhibition on the history of theatre captioning. Stagetext has been championing access to the arts for deaf, deafened and hard-of-hearing communities for over twenty years. Captions Speak Louder brings to life the impact of accessible arts and celebrates the growth of theatre captioning over two decades.
Online Talks
These free events offer you an opportunity to learn about the history of theatre captions, as well as to share what access means to you. The talks include previously unseen videos from our archive, featuring those who benefit from captioning, the charity’s founders, the staff and its supporters, who have all worked to make the arts accessible to deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people.
