FAQs

1. Why is the baby’s age so important?

There are three main reasons for the strict age limit for the babies coming to Float.

1. Health and safety in the space is very important. The space has been developed as a calm, quiet and safe environment where very young and crawling babies are free to explore and connect with the performers. If older children are introduced in the space, it becomes harder for parents and carers to let their young babies roam. Float has been created as much for the parents and carers as for the babies, and we would like the grown-ups in the space to feel able to rest, recharge, and even lie down for a bit if they choose. The set-up in the space means that with younger babies this is possible, but children who are older and more mobile can easily get out of the space or get too close to technical equipment. There is a big difference between a 9-month-old who is mobile and a 14-month-old who is mobile.

2. Float has been designed especially for the age and stage of babies from birth to 12 months old. The experience includes elements that will stimulate babies in this age range and offer beautiful moments of bonding for babies and their grown-ups. Older children will not have the same experience at Float, which means that a baby’s experience may be cut short due to the needs of an older child.

3. There is rarely a space created just for this age range of babies. We would love to keep this protected for the youngest babies and their grown-ups to allow them a truly unique and beautiful experience together. For parents and carers with older children, we understand that it is difficult to find the time and space to bond with newer babies, and Float is designed to offer families that protected bit of time to be together in a new and exciting world.

2. Can I bring my baby’s siblings with me?

You can bring siblings who are aged between birth - 12 months old with you on the same ticket to Float. However, siblings older than 12 months old will not be able to come into the space for health and safety reasons. Float has been designed especially for babies up to 12 months old and is based on research into this age and stage of development. We want to make sure that Float’s tranquil space is a safe and calm environment for you to enjoy with your little one.

3. What if I am running late on the day?

Float is a durational performance, meaning your ticket allows you access to the space from 10am to 1pm on the day. The performance itself will run through the space a few times over the 3 hours, meaning you can choose when to come along at a time that suits you and your baby.

4. Can I leave the space and come back?

Yes, you are free to come and go as you need and want to on the day. Your baby may be happy and settled the whole time, or you may need time to leave the space to grab a coffee or snack.

5. Can I feed my baby in the performance space?

Float’s performance space is breast and bottle feeding friendly, so please stay to feed your baby in the space if you feel comfortable doing so. We will also have space outside the performance area if this suits you better. If your baby is on solid food, please eat this outside the space to avoid any mess or slipping hazards.

6. Can more than one adult get access to Float on the same ticket?

There are two ticket options. The first is for one adult + baby and the second is for two adults + baby. There is a limited number of adults allowed in the space at one time, so we ask that there is a maximum of two adults accompanying a baby on the same ticket. There is no option to buy an adult only ticket. Given the durational nature of Float, we are unable to estimate in advance how many people will be in the space at any one time. Due to this we cannot allow different adults in on the same ticket. For example, if you buy a 2 adults + baby ticket, you cannot then share your ticket with another two adults to use later the same day.

7. I have twins (or other multiples). What ticket should I buy?

If you have twins, triplets, other multiples, or siblings who are both 12 months or younger, then you need only buy one of the two ticket options available and let us know how many babies you will be bringing when you book your ticket. You will not be charged extra for bringing more than one baby under 12 months old.

8. I bought a ticket while pregnant, but my baby still isn’t born! What can I do?

We would love to see you and your baby bump at Float. Your unborn baby will get as much out of the experience as you do while in utero. They will hear the sounds and feel you relax in the calming space.
