Open Floor: Scratch Night
Open Floor is back! Open Floor is The Studio’s scratch night, where theatremakers and theatre companies from Edinburgh and beyond can test brand-new ideas in front of a live audience for the first time.
This November, we are joining forces with Imaginate to present an evening of high-quality, exciting, and diverse early-stage dance and theatre pieces for children and young people.
Have a browse of the Scratch Night performances below:
Mithun Krishna Prasad - The Touch-Me-Not Boy
The Touch-Me-Not Boy brings dance-theatre to life, blending Mithun Krishna Prasad’s dynamic choreography and Sneha Vinod’s classical grace with WrongNotes’ signature fusion of Indian classical and contemporary music. Together, they deliver a powerful message about personal boundaries in a way that is engaging, thought-provoking, and perfect for young audiences.
Cynthia WS Cheung - Draw A Blank
Draw A Blank aims to introduce children aged 0-5 and their families to the rich of ink and water landscape painting through an immersive multimedia journey with visual projection, dance, and live sound mixing.
Eszter Marsalko / Snap-Elastic - If Destroyed Still True
Taking Shakespeare’s iconic King Lear as a starting point, this devised piece for family audiences creates a bridge between imagination and reality, between the stories we tell and the events of the real world.
Corinne Salisbury - The Glue
A young climate protester ends up in a live televised showdown with her overbearing mother - while dangling above a motorway to block the route of oil tankers. An extract from a new play about who gets to protest, what drives some youth activists to take extreme risks, and what they say to their parents.
