Q. Apart from the theatre, how can we watch the Christmas Show?
A. The show will be available on CBeebies, BBC iPlayer and will have a limited Cinema release before being shown on the BBC.
Q. How much are you charging for the theatre tickets?
A. There will be two performances (1pm and 4.30pm) on both Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September. Theatre Tickets are £22.25,£26.25 or £30.25 per ticket inclusive of fees.
Q. Can parents bring in under 12 months to sit on laps for free?
A: The performance is suitable for children aged 3 upwards. But children up to 12 months (babes in arms) and under are welcome to attend and ‘go free on knees’. There are limited numbers of ‘babes in arms’ tickets per performance due to safety restrictions. To request a free ticket for a child who is up to 12 months old, please telephone or attend in person the Festival Theatre box office once tickets are on sale. Subject to availability these tickets can be added on to an order at any time.
Q: When do tickets go on sale and how can I buy them?
A: Half of the tickets (Saturday shows) go on general sale at 11am on Friday 9th August. The other half (Sunday Shows) go on sale at 11am on Tuesday 13th August.

Q: How do people get theatre tickets online?
A: You will be able to access the show page on Friday 9th August from 11am at www.capitaltheatres.com This show page will give you some general information about the show (dates, times, prices and access information). When the first release of tickets sells out, the ‘Book Tickets’ button will be removed from the page and will reappear on Tuesday 13th August.
When you click the ‘Book Tickets’ button, you will automatically be placed in a queue from 11am (on sale time). The queue may be very busy on the day, so please be patient. When your turn arrives, you will be able to choose the number of tickets (maximum 6 per booking) and location of seats and type of tickets you wish to purchase. After reviewing your Basket, you will be asked to either log into your account with us or create a new account. Once you have signed up or logged in, you will be able to complete your purchase.
We would recommend creating an account with Capital Theatres before tickets go on sale, so all you have to do on the day is log in. Please note Babes in Arms (12 months and under) tickets cannot be booked online, please visit the Box Office in person, or call them on 0131 529 6000.
Q:How many tickets can one person purchase?
A: There is a limit of 6 tickets per booking on all booking platforms.
Q: Will you reduce the price of tickets to sell them?
No. The theatre ticket prices will not change from those already stated.
Q: Are any more tickets available?
A: A small number of additional tickets MAY become available closer to the event, once stage plans are finalised.
Q:How long is the theatre show?
A: The running time of the performance is 60 minutes; we anticipate the audience will be in the theatre for around an hour and a half.
Q: Are any of the tickets restricted view and if so are these offered at a reduced rate?
A: We may offer restricted view tickets at a reduced rate, this will be confirmed at a later date. Those tickets will be sold for £14.25 inclusive of fees.
Q: Are tickets refundable?
A: The Theatre offer the opportunity to resell tickets via the box office for sold-out performances only. Customers only get a refund if their tickets resell (90% value refunded to original customer, with the Theatre retaining 10% as an admin fee. The new customer pays full price for the tickets. Q: How do we get there?
A: The Festival Theatre is situated close to Edinburgh’s main transport hubs and is easily accessible by foot, by car and by public transport.
On foot(From Princes Street) The Festival Theatre is on Nicolson Street, which is the continuation of North Bridge heading south from the east end of Princes Street (the Balmoral Hotel is on the corner of Princes Street and North Bridge). The theatre is on the right hand side of the road; approximately 10 minutes walk from the east end of Princes Street.
By busThe Festival Theatre is accessible by many different bus routes across the city, find the route that best suits you with the Lothian Buses Journey Planner.
By roadThe Festival Theatre is on Nicolson Street, which is the continuation of North Bridge heading south from Princes Street. Please note there is limited street parking around the Festival Theatre. There is a small car park located about 5 minutes walk from the theatre on Niddry Street (7am – 11pm, 7 days).

Where can I park?
NCP’s Holyrood Road car park is just a 9-minute walk from the theatre entrance, is open 24 hours, and has over 300 bays (including disabled bays). Please note the parking cannot be pre-booked. Find out more information about the car park.

Q: Are there any seats for those with a disability who require a wheelchair or those who are deaf or partially sighted?
Yes. The theatre is fully compliant to cater for people who use a wheelchair and numbers of wheelchair-accessible seating tickets are available. Please call Box Office on 0131 529 6000 to book these tickets (these tickets are not available online). Assistance dogs are welcome. The Stalls also has RF induction loop access for those who are deaf and/or hard of hearing. Q: If one of our party finds the theatre environment overwhelming, is there any provision on offer to accommodate?
A: Yes. There will be a breakout space immediately outside the main auditorium where audience members can breakout for some or all of the performance. This space will be clearly signposted but please do speak to a member of the team on the day should you require access.
Q: Will I be able to park my pram somewhere safe?
The Theatre will provide space for pram parking and there will be clear signage on the day. Prams and any belongings will be left at owner’s risk.
Q: Can I bring my own food to the venue?
A: Please contact the venue directly, they’ll be able to advise whether or not you can bring food to the venue.
Q: Can my kids get up and sit at the front of the venue/Can my kids get up and join in?
A: For the safety of everyone at the show, we ask that children stay in their allocated seats during the show.
Q: Am I guaranteed entrance?
Yes, if you have a ticket.
Q: Are all the performances filmed for TV?
A. The four performances on Saturday and Sunday will be filmed. By purchasing a ticket and attending the performance(s) you agree to be included in the filmed performance.
