Lady Blackbird’s album Black Acid Soul (2021) is rooted in jazz, with soul, R&B, and pop influences. Her ‘extraordinary voice’ (The Guardian) recalls icons such as Betty Davies and Amy Winehouse. Black Acid Soul is a dazzling debut that weaves together well-loved pieces, including Nina Simone’s ‘Blackbird’ and the Voice’s of East Harlem’s ‘Wanted Dead or Alive,’ along with original songs that showcase a unique ability to combine the personal and the political with assurance.
Live, Lady Blackbird brings a ‘captivating’ energy (The Times) to the stage, enhanced by a bewitching sense of theatricality and spectacular costumes that combine for an unforgettable experience.
