Capital Theatres Board welcomes new members Michael Harrison and Gillian Harkness-McKinlay
As the curtain rises on 2025, we are thrilled to announce two new members to the Capital Theatres Board: Michael Harrison and Gillian Harkness-McKinlay.
One of the most influential figures in UK theatre industry – recently appearing at number 2 on The Stage’s 100 theatre power list – Michael Harrison brings an unparalleled wealth of experience to our Board. From producing award-winning West End musicals to reviving beloved classics with fresh creative vision, his impact on the industry is immense.
Michael is also Chief Executive of Crossroads Pantomimes, responsible for many of the major pantomimes across the UK, including at our very own King’s Theatre and latterly at the Festival Theatre.
Gillian Harkness-McKinlay is a solicitor specialising in working with public sector and charity clients. She has considerable experience of supporting charities in the arts sector and, in addition to her legal expertise, has a background in singing, dance and drama.
Gillian is a member of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society board and sits on the Charity Law Subcommittee of the Law Society of Scotland and the Charity Panel of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland.
Joan Stringer, Chair of the Board at Capital Theatres, said: “We are incredibly excited to welcome Michael and Gillian to the Capital Theatres Board. Both of them will play a key role in shaping our artistic vision, safeguarding the long-term resilience of the organisation and helping us to continue to deliver extraordinary live experiences, time and time again.”
Please join us in welcoming Michael and Gillian to the Capital Theatres family.
